Materials List

  • 7” circle
  • 7 half inch paper hexies
  • 7 small scraps for the paper hexies
  • Needle
  • Thread
  • Stuffing
  • Mini muffin tin
  • Hot glue gun

DIRECTIONS

  1. Using your favorite method of English Paper Piecing, prepare 7 half inch hexies. Stitch the hexies together to make a flower.

  2. Cut a 7” circle. Place the hexie flower in the center of the circle. Stitch in place.

  3. Using 2 stands of thread do a running stitch around the outside edge of the circle.

Note: stay close to edge, approximately ¼” from outside edge.

  4. Slowly gather the stitches, by pulling the thread into a circle. Continue stitching with running stitches around the circle in the same direction.

Note: the running stitches are about ¼” long.

  5. Stuff the center of the circle with stuffing. Continue to tighten the stitches and stuff firmly. Secure thread with a knot.

  6. Place hot glue on the bottom of the pincushion.

  7. Press firmly into the bottom of the tin. Hold in place for a minute.

  8. Make some cute pins with beads glued onto a straight pin and enjoy making many pin cushions for your friends as gifts or for yourself because they are so addictive and adorable you won’t be able to stop making them!
