Felt Hamburger Tutorial

By: Cecilia for So Tei-Tei

Hungry? Make this cute play food by Cecilia Jorcin for your baby or toddler. They'll love playing with this simple sewn project. Let the Felt Hamburger Tutorial show you how to make this detailed hamburger and bun with tomato, onion, egg, lettuce and cheese.

Felt Hamburger Tutorial

Cut both pieces in brown felt, place one on top of the other, right sides facing and sew all around the edge, leave 1 inch opening. Turn right side out, fill it and slip stitch to close the opening.

Cut the egg white in white felt and egg yolk in yellow felt. Place the egg yolk over the egg white and stitch.

Cut both pieces in brown felt. Make 3 rows of stitches as indicated by the lines in the pattern. Place one on top of the other, add some filling, and top stitch all around the edge.

Onion rings:
Cut 2 pieces for each pattern, place one on top of the other and sew a row of stitches right in the middle of the ring.

Cut the piece once. Place some elastic thread in your bovine and sew a row of stitches to shirr. If you don't have elastic thread just use a long straight stitch and regular thread to gather, or just cut the piece and keep it simple.

Cut the pieces tomato bottom and tomato top in red felt. Cut tomato middle in a dark red. Place them one on top of another: tomato bottom - tomato middle - tomato top and sew by the edges.

This is so cute and so easy to make that even a beginner can make this Felt hamburger for their kids. Can you see their faces when you give this to them and they have their friends over to play cooking . It looks so real and you can also just use the pieces for other foods like eggs or tomatoe sandwiches or a cheese sandwich. Many hours of fun. Great tutorial. Has anyone made one yet?
