Pumpkin Cutting Practice Sheets

"These pumpkin cutting activities are perfect for using your scissor skills. There are many cutting activities in this activity set that are simple shapes and lines (think straight). As your child advances in cutting, they can start practicing jagged and curved lines. All the sheets have designated dotted lines to cut, making it easy for your child or student to know where they should be cutting. As the kids cut the pumpkins in various ways, they are not only practicing cutting but also where they should place their non-dominant hands to help hold and steady the paper. Use dot markers or crayons to trace the lines that lead to the pumpkins. This will help with visual motor skills. Trace all the dotted lines with your pointer finger to practice finger isolation and control. After you cut out the pumpkins, use the pieces as puzzles to see if you can piece them back together. You can even use squeeze glue to strengthen muscles in your hand from squeezing. Color the pumpkins before cutting them. Use dot markers to count the pumpkins before cutting and gluing the corresponding number. Place pieces of the pumpkin puzzle around the room. Play hot and cold with the kids to see if they can find all the pieces. This helps them develop listening skills, concentration, and following directions. These work for beginners to more advanced cutters. My second grader loves to practice her cutting skills with these because they are fall themed."
