Sock Wreath

By: Becca Dulgarian of Blue Cricket Design

Use two pairs of striped tube stocks and a wreath base to create a fun and colorful sock wreath. Finish off this wreath craft with a large ribbon and hang from a door for perfect dollar store decorating. This entire wreath cost $3!

Dollar Store Wreath

  • 12" Foam Wreath form

    Wreath Base
  • Two pair of striped Tube Socks!

    Wreath Base

Cut your socks at the heal and at the toe.

Cut Socks at Heel and Toe

Next cut the longest section of your sock in half again. You only need to do this step if you're using more then one style of sock. In my case I uses two different striped pairs of socks and wanted to alternate them so I needed to create even sections.

Cut the Foam Wreath form in order to make a place where we can slide our socks on.

Gather your sock section and slide it on!

Once you've put on all your sections just spread the socks evenly to make sure it covers the entire wreath!

And you're done! Tie a ribbon on top to hang it and pat yourself on the back for marring two random Dollar Store Items to create something great!

So cute! One question... Do you need to hot clue together where the 2 ends are split when almost finished?

Hi Spontaneo -- That shouldn't be necessary, as the foam wreath is sturdy enough for the two ends to stay in place. You could always tie the large ribbon for hanging over the split section in order to give it a little extra structure, too. Happy crafting! - Editors of

I've never thought about crafting a wreath out of socks, but this project looks fun to make!

I love it! I first thought you had to hot glue them on. Then I saw that you just slide them on. It's so easy even my grand daughter can help me to get it done. Imagine different shades of red for a Valentines Day wreath. It would be very cute.

What a wonderful and clever to craft with socks. I'm not the greatest crafter in the world but I think I can follow this. Thank you Deirdre

Clever! start collecting those spare and worn out socks if you don't want to buy them! LOL! I could see making this a team sock wreath by collecting socks in your favorite professional or school's team's colors! Or even frill it up a bit by adding a little lace here and there to soften it up, or even old bracelets for a little sparkle I between the cloth! Fun!

Some people are so creative! All I can do is copy! lol Thanks for the idea! There are lots of crazy socks out there for every season. I'd like to use up some old, dark colors of socks as fillers but then use Halloween socks as focal points for a fun wreath without the Halloween gore!

What a great idea for using up mismatched or old socks. Socks never seem to wear out at the same rate, one sock in the pair always seems to get a hole first. I also use old socks for dusting cloths and cleaning cloths for brushes.#BestIdeaEver.

I never would have thought that those left over socks that my washing machine did not eat could be used for such a project, but I do love this idea. I can see this on my front door, especially for Halloween. Put a witches head in the center or just a witches hat and you have not only used up all those socks, but you also have an awesome wreath for your front door. What an idea!

Got news for the designer of this craft. The socks that are shown in the picture are not tube socks. But never the less this is a cute project. I've seen some colorful kids socks that would be great on this.

This is a wonderful and easy craft idea for the elderly. I work with the elderly that have dementia. This would stimulate them, and give them pleasure especially if they gave it away as a gift. Just think, use Christmas colors as well. :)

That is so true! It's whimsical, too, and I bet the elderly would love to have a little humor and fun in their day! You could even have an assortment of socks and let them choose theirs, or at least some of them, depending on how much time you have for the activity.

I love this idea! You could use, used socks that have a hole in the toe all you really need is the top part of the sock. I am going to make one and put in my wash room. I may put a little sign on it to say something like- wash day, or this is where unmatched socks go, or laundry day or many other sayings.

What I really love about this is it's ease. Something really cool and inexpensive anyone can make. You don't have to be "crafty" or have lots of stuff on hand. Just 2 inexpensive items. Cool....

I love this idea. Like hometown said you can use socks to coordinate with a holiday or room decor. Great dollar store crafting!

What a great idea. I am already looking for valentines day to made a red and white one.

I'm always looking for new ideas for wreaths. It's cheap to make but doesn't look cheap! LOVE IT!

Can you imagine this wreath with Christmas socks or any or holiday colors. I think this is a very clever idea. Thank you for sharing this wonderful wreath, can't wait to try it.

Very strange but fun

What a great idea! Thanks. Peggy

This is very clever. It is one of the prettiest wreaths you have and it looks so easy to do. Would be a great kid's project.

I love this wreath such a great idea to use all those stray socks that werent lost by the sock monster in the dryer:) And especially neat way to put all my childrens socks of assorted colors together with the help from my children such fmaily involvement:)

This is avery interesting concept so simple but yet fun great use for all those one of a kind socks

That's areally neat easy wreath.

You wouldn't have to use new socks or matching ones. I have a bunch of stray socks. I'm going to go through them and see what I come up with!
