10 DIY and Crafting Apps for Your Next Project

By: Toby Kuhnke, Editor, FaveCrafts.com
DIY and Crafting Apps

These days, there isn't much that the phone in your pocket can't do. There's an app for just about anything you can imagine -- including apps for crafters.

Whether you're knitting or crocheting, sewing, or gardening, there's an app that will make your life so much easier.

We have gathered our top 10 apps for crafters, makers, and DIYers below, so you don't have to do the digging yourself. For your next project, these apps will make getting the job done faster, easier, and completely hassle-free, so you can focus on your creativity and craft.

1. Stash2Go

This handy app is a must-have for knitters and crocheters. Between chatting in forums, uploading photos of your works in progress, and finding your local yarn stores, there's not much that this app can't do. But the real shining feature of Stash2Go is the ability to sync with Ravelry to keep all of your patterns in one place.

Available For: iPhone, iPad, and Android
Price: $5.99 (free lite version)

2. Red Heart

Whether you want to browse their almost endless selection of patterns or go shopping for some yarn, Red Heart's app has you covered. Plus, it's free! For crafters who find themselves daydreaming about yarn, this app is a must-have.

Available For: iPhone, iPad, and Android
Price: FREE

3. Ravulous

Because Ravelry does not have its own platform, apps like Ravulous have appeared on the market for those makers who just can't get enough of knitting and crochet. Ravulous syncs with your Ravelry account, so you can see all of your saved patterns. It also has the stash log feature, which lets you keep track of what yarn you have left. That way you don't have to worry about accidentally doubling up on yarn when you're doing your yarn shopping. What a lifesaver!

Available For: Android and Kindle
Price: $1.52 (Android) and $1.60 (Kindle)

4. StashBot

Calling all knitters -- StashBot is the app you've been waiting for. We all know the nightmare of trying to figure out knitting gauge and estimating how much yarn you will need to complete the project. I'm getting a headache just thinking about it. StashBot does all of this work for you. Simply put in the information for the project that you're working on, and StashBot will calculate the amount of yarn you should need to complete it with decent accuracy.

Available For: iPhone and iPad
Price: $4.99

5. iScape

For gardeners, there's no greater joy than getting your hands dirty. But the hard part is in planning the garden! This spring, as you start to think about how you want your flower beds to look, give iScape a try. This intuitive app lets you take a photo of your yard and plan a garden by dragging and dropping plants into place. For visual learners, this app is a must-have.

This list is really helpful! I'm excited about Gaugefy, since I'm usually to lazy to actually check my gauge while crocheting.
