  1. Pick your fabric cotton is best. If you use batiks remember to get a sharp needle since the weave tends to be tighter than regular quilters cotton.

  2. I like to starch my fabric to give nice crisp edges, although this isn't necessary, I do recommend it highly.

  3. Find a circle template. I use the tops for mason jars. For my small flowers about 2 3/4 of an inch across and the larger flowers I make about 3 1/4 across. FYI: The size of your template is approx the same width of your finished flower.

  4. Draw out circles for your petals. Small flowers I like 8-10 petals and larges ones I like about 12 for nice fullness.

  5. Cut them out.

  6. Fold circle in half and use your finger to press or an iron.

  7. Then half again and again finger press or use an iron.

  8. Find the middle, I like to pinch the middle or fold in half to find the center.

  9. Fold the side up to meet the middle and same repeat on the other side.

  10. Take your needle and thread and thread near the edge of the petal.

  11. Do the same to all your petals till they are all on the string.

  12. Pull nice and tight and tie a knot and clip your threads.

  13. Using your hot glue gun pump some into the center of your flower.

  14. Put your button of choice and glue in place.

  15. Cut out 2 round circles and glue one to the back of your flower and glue your pin in place.

  16. For added security glue your second felt circle down on top of the pin to hold it in place.

A nice cute flower that is so different from the others and so quick and easy to make this tsumami flower pin. I would not just use it as a pin as this flower can be used for many different things hair bow ,on a headband using a variety of different flowers, purse, wrist cuff or anywhere you want. I can already invision this flower made. Anyone else like these?

Why is this called a Tsumami Flower Pin? Was it designed to sell to raise monies for tsumami victims?

Tsumami Kanzashi its a japanese style fabric flower traditionally worn by Maikos. It has nothing to do with tsunami.
