Easy Sewn Armchair Organizer

Learn how to sew an armchair caddy with this easy tutorial.

Easy Sewn Armchair Organizer

An armchair organizer will simplify your life. Stop digging into the cushion for your pens and remote, and instead get organized with this easy sewing tutorial!

From the Designer: An organizer for my chair had been on my bucket list till I finally got tired enough of  remotes, pens, notepads, etc. cluttering my table to just do it. The short time it took to sew from a piece of fabric that had been in my stash for a long time made me wonder why it had taken so long.  The armchair organizer not only keeps everything at my fingertips, it also covers and protects the arms and seat from wear and tear or covers wear and tear.

Materials

  • 3 yards of 44” wide fabric
  • Sewing machine and thread

Instructions

Fold right sides together lengthwise creating a tube 108” by 22”. Sew around 3 sides leaving an opening for turning right side out. Turn.

Tube sewn, turned.

Using graph below, fold to create pockets, topstitch around sides.

Fold pockets.

Sew to create pockets.

Sewn pockets.

I have tried other organizers on my chair but discarded them quickly. They constantly fell off and had to be adjusted. This one keeps a lot of stuff very handy and took little time to complete. It would make a nice gift even for yourself.

Ah! If you haven't made his for your grandma or grandpa yet then don't complain about them losing stuff to the chair. Most of the time it's so easy and fast to get solutions but we just ignore them. Take this for example, it doesn't take longer than an hour to finish and there's some pictures to help.

What I like about this pattern is that it is not only an organizer for your remote controls, books, etc, but it is also an arm rest protector for both sides and a chair pad to protect the seat. I dont do a lot of sewing, but I am definitely adding this project to my to do list.
