If you're looking for pine cone crafts for Christmas that you can do with the kids, this is a completely adorable ornament to make together! It involves gathering materials from the backyard as well as items you might already have in your craft stash. Add paint or keep them in natural colors for a beautiful gift or tree decoration this year.

From the Designer:

"Part of the fun of the holiday season is making decorations and gifts to use ourselves and to give to others. We always enjoy making something new every year and one of our kid’s favorite things to decorate for our tree is pine cones. They love making different pine cone ornaments and there are so many different ways to make fun and different pine cone ornaments to keep and give and gifts. Pom poms are our current favs and these simple ornaments only take minutes and are so much fun to make or to give to someone special."

Materials List

  • Scented decorative pine cones (found at Walmart, craft stores)
  • Red/Green/White Mini Pom Poms
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Glue Sticks
  • Twine or ribbon

Instructions

  1. To make your pine cone ornament, tie your twine or ribbon around the top layer of your pine cone and tie a knot. Tie a 2nd. knot to make the ornament string.

  2. Using your hot glue gun, dot glue where you want to place your pom pom and place it there. Repeat until you have all the pom poms you want on your ornament. Hang on your tree for a fun scented homemade pine cone ornament.

  3. To help make these smell wonderful on our tree, we used scented pine cones from a craft store, but you can also use unscented pines you find outdoors as well.
