Decorative New Baby Card

By: Crafter's Companion

Instead of buying a card, why not put some of your creativity into this beautiful card to celebrate a new baby? This card will be kept forever, so make it unique. Just switch the color scheme to blue for a boy!

  • An 8.5 x 11 sheet of pink pearlescent card
  • A small piece of silver holographic card
  • Top Score Board & Scoring Tool
  • A piece of paisley paper from the Deja Views Little ones collection
  • Some paper flowers & 3 crystal brads
  • A baby theme rubber stamp
  • Some pink ribbon & string pearl beads
  • Congratulations peel off sticker or rubber stamp
  • Silver peel off border stickers

Step 1

Place the short edge of the cardstock against the Top Score and score along the line that reads Tri- Fold US letter. Rotate the card and repeat this score line on the other edge, so that your piece of card is scored equally into three portions.

Step 2

Then, place the card back onto the Top Score and line up the end of the first panel with the opposite bottom corner and score diagonally from top to bottom with the wider point at the bottom.

Step 3

Fold this diagonal section over and from the rear, lightly draw a line to mark off the piece of card that overhangs the edge of the card. Using this line as a guide, score along the scalloped edge on the Top Score and cut away the excess. To complete this decorative panel, score some lines from the scalloped edge to the point of the diagonal flap.

Step 4

To fold the card together, start by folding the plain section inwards, followed by the patterned panel over the top of it to produce a 3 way folded card.

Step 5

Decorate the outer panel by adding a narrow border peel off sticker around the edge. Take a piece of the paisley patterned paper measuring 8.5 x 4.25 inches. Place this against the scalloped line and score along the length of the paper. Cut around the scallop to leave a decorative edge and stick this over the plain card panel. Add a peel off sticker to the scalloped edge.

Step 6

To decorate this card, mount together some layers of paper flowers and hold together with a crystal brad. Make three of these flowers and stick them to the front panel of the card.

Step 7

Stamp a small baby themed image onto a piece of the pink card that you have made the card base from. Mount this onto a piece of holographic silver card and stick this at an angle over the paisley part of the card. Add a little touch of glitter glue to the design as a highlight, and stick a bow onto the bottom left hand corner.

Step 8

Stamp or stick a Congratulations message onto another piece of the pink card and mount this onto a piece of the silver card. Mount this onto the front lower left hand side of the card using 3D foam pads.
