Materials List

  • Grey girls' crew neck long sleeve t-shirt
  • A pair of 25mm googly eyes
  • Giotto Decor Textile pens: red and black
  • Artline 210 fineliner black pen
  • Artline 750 black laundry marker
  • Pilot silver marker pen
  • Neon green washable glitter glue
  • No-sew fabric glue (such as Bostik Sew Simple)
  • Baby shampoo
  • A5 piece of leftover cardstock
  • Iron and ironing board

  1. Wash the t-shirt in baby shampoo and rinse it thoroughly in cold water. Allow the shirt to dry thoroughly, then iron it lightly.

  2. Put the t-shirt flat on the working surface. Slide the piece of cardstock inside the shirt between the back and front sides (this will prevent the ink from staining the back). Keep this cardstock in place until you have finished the design.

  3. Use the Artline fineliner pen to lightly draw the ladybug on the front of the shirt.

  4. Use the Giotto pens to color the ladybug’s head and body.

  5. Use the laundry marker to outline the ladybug.

  6. Add the ladybug’s spots with the black Giotto pen.

  7. Affix the eyes with the fabric glue.

  8. Use the black Giotto pen to add the antennae.

  9. Use the silver pen to draw the ladybug’s mouth and add a silver squiggle to each spot on the ladybug’s body. Add googly eyes if desired.

  10. Add green leaves with the glitter glue.

  11. Allow the shirt to dry flat for 24 hours.
Note: Keep the cardstock inside the shirt until it is fully dry.
