Learn how to make hair accessories that look absolutely classy with this crafting video and tutorial. These simple and homemade hair accessories utilize odds and ends from vintage pieces and can be made in under an hour. If you have broken necklaces, brooches, and other older jewelry, there is no need to toss them out or let them sit unused in a drawer. Just grab a barrette, your hot glue gun, felt and get to gluing a stunning and Daisy Buchanan-level glamorous barrette. This lovely little idea would be the perfect edition to a vintage wedding outfit or formal dress ensemble.

Materials List

  • Barrette
  • Felt
  • Vintage bits of lace or trim
  • Vintage jewelry bits and bits of bling
  • Hot glue
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Cut a piece of felt just a little bigger than the barrette and an additional small piece of felt.

  2. Glue the larger piece of felt to the top of the barrette.

  3. Use the small piece of felt to secure the big piece of felt to the barrette from the back side with a bit of glue.

  4. Cut a piece of lace or trim and glue it to the felt.

  5. Add your vintage jewelry bits and bling with the hot glue.
