Harry Potter Themed Etched Glasses

Updated March 31, 2020
Harry Potter Themed Etched Glasses
Harry Potter Themed Etched Glasses

Harry Potter fans will just love these easy-as-can-be wine glasses! This is a beginner-friendly etching project with charming results. If you don't have access to a die cutting machine, you can purchase etching stencils at your local craft store. You can also make your own custom stencils by hand by tracing the design of your choice onto contact paper. The designer really makes the words pop by adding gold glitter paste to the letters. Have so much fun with this project! After all, customized wine glasses make great gifts, and they're so much more fun to use than plain ones.

Materials List

  • Stemless wine glass
  • Silhouette Cameo
  • etchall etchmask: 9"x15" Blank Stencil Vinyl
  • etchall etchmask Transfer Sheet
  • etchall Etching Creme
  • Momenta Art-C Luxe Brilliant Sparkling Glitter Paint -Walnut Brown Metallic
  • Tape

Instructions:

  1. Start by creating a cut file in Silhouette Studio then cut out on your Silhouette Cameo using etchmask®. Be sure to leave space around the design to cover the glass you don't want to etch.

  2. Cut a piece of etchmask® transfer sheet to slightly larger than your design and use this to apply the cut mask to the glass. Tape off any areas you think you might accidentally get etching creme on.

  3. Apply etching creme and allow to sit for 15 minutes.

  4. Return excess creme back to the jar and rinse your project under cold running water. Don't worry - water deactivates the creme so it won't hurt your pipes.

  5. Use Art-C Sparkling Glitter Paste to color the etched portion of the glass.
