Materials List

  • Astro turf
  • Staple gun with appropriate-sized staples
  • Scissors
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Hammer
  • Plastic grocery bags
  • Faux flowers, optional

Instructions

  1. Lay the astro turf out, folding one end over so the turf sides are facing. Determine how large you want the pillow to be and cut the turf with scissors.

  2. Begin to staple one side of the pillow. You need to do this on a cardboard box.

  3. After stapling one side, gently pull the turf out from the cardboard box and turn it over so the staples are facing you.

  4. Use the screwdriver to fold the staples down. Moving the turf to a hard surface, hammer the staples flat.

  5. Repeat for the second side.

  6. Once all sides are securely stapled, begin to turn down the pillow so the right sides are facing out.

  7. Since this is an outdoor pillow, I opted to stuff mine with plastic bags. I stuffed it about halfway before adding the flower stems, if desired.

  8. Determine where you want to place your flowers and poke a small hole through the turf with the end of the scissors. Thread the flower stem through and twist (or cut) the stems so they fit within pillow.

  9. Finish stuffing pillow with plastic bags.

  10. Fold over the raw ends of the turf and staple shut, following the above process using a screwdriver and hammer.
